LinkedIn Statistics & User Numbers in Switzerland, 2021

Currently, approximately 3.3 million users in Switzerland use the social network LinkedIn. With over 756+ million members in more than 200 countries and regions, LinkedIn is the world’s largest professional network.

In the following, the online marketing agency onlineKarma presents the latest LinkedIn user statistics for Switzerland as of May 2021, broken down by language, age, gender, and more.

Most LinkedIn users in Switzerland have set their profile language to German . The second most common language is French.

English is the default language on LinkedIn, which means it is assumed that all users speak English.

Unfortunately, Rumantsch isn’t (yet) available as a profile language 🤷‍♂️

More than half of LinkedIn users in Switzerland are between the ages of 25 and 34.

Unfortunately, LinkedIn does not provide figures for Switzerland regarding desktop versus mobile usage of the platform. However, as early as 2017, approximately 60% of users accessed the platform via mobile (source: Fortune via techjury), so it’s safe to assume that this figure is significantly higher today.

Women are significantly underrepresented on LinkedIn. The situation is different on other social networks (Facebook statistics for Switzerland or Instagram statistics for Switzerland). No statistics are available for non-binary individuals.

The size of the employer can be determined for only about 1.5 million of the 3.3 million users.

About 50% of the LinkedIn users analyzed work for a company with no more than 1,000 employees. Only about one-third of LinkedIn users work for an SME (fewer than 250 employees).

This is despite the fact that , according to the FSO’s Business Structure Statistics, more than two-thirds of Switzerland’s workforce is employed by SMEs, while only one-third works for large companies.
